Stephen Leonard, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Stephen Leonard, M.D., (F.A.C.S.) is a board-certified Surgeon who received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College in Ohio, cum laude, in 1967 and his M.D. from the Duke University School of Medicine in 1973.
He completed a surgical internship and residency at the New York Hospital- Cornell University Medical Center from 1973 through 1978. Following that, between 1978 and 1979, Dr. Leonard did his fellowship in Vascular Surgery at the Ohio State University and St. Anthony Hospital in Columbus Ohio.
Following his post graduate residencies, Dr. Leonard served as a Staff Surgeon in the INA Health plan of Arizona, as well as other hospitals in Arizona and New Jersey (from 1979 to 1982), specializing in general and vascular surgery.
Between 1982 and 1983, Dr. Leonard was an Assistant Professor of Surgery (general and vascular surgery) at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, Worcester, MA, and the Assistant Chief of Surgery at the Worcester City Hospital. From 1983 to 1993, he was in private practice in vascular surgery and aviation medicine in Mesa, AZ.
In 1993, Dr. Leonard joined Bosley Medical Group. He performed hair transplantation at Bosley surgical offices in Beverly Hills, CA, Atlanta, GA, and Boca Raton, FL from 1993 to 2003, and now provides coverage in other offices as needed. Dr. Leonard is licensed to practice medicine in the states of New York, Ohio, Arizona, New Jersey, Massachusetts, California, Georgia, Illinois, Texas, Washington, Florida, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Minnesota, Colorado, Louisiana and Idaho.
Dr. Stephen Leonard is a Diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners and the American Board of Surgery, and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He belongs to several prestigious professional organizations including: the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, the Aerospace Medical Association, the Civil Aviation Medical Association, the Rocky Mountain Vascular Surgical Society and is Chairman of the Aeromedical Advisory Council of the Experimental Aircraft Association).
Dr. Leonard was a Flight Surgeon in the US Air Force Reserve from 1984-1994, assigned to an F-16 fighter squadron, and is an FAA designated Senior Aviation Medical Examiner. He holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate with type ratings in Learjets and Cessna Citations.
