> How does Low Level Laser Therapy work?
Cool laser treatments have been clinically proven to increase blood flow to the scalp and reduce scalp inflammation, both of which contribute to hair growth and retention and overall scalp health.
Low Level Laser Therapy works by providing a specific wavelength of light to the scalp area (for a sufficient length of time) stimulating tissue molecules to that regrow and strengthen your hair.
The process is called reverse miniaturization, where follicles return to their normal healthy state after being exposed to these special high-efficiency lasers. This first stage usually occurs between 18-26 weeks of proper use. The second stage, hair growth, usually occurs between 28-52 weeks. Continued use is necessary to maintain these effects.
> What are the Treatment Plans?
Through advancements in laser technology pioneered by Theradome™, cool laser treatment is now available in your home. With Theradome™, you need only 20 minutes per treatment, twice a week. So getting your hair back is a convenient, hassle-free process that you can do in the comfort and privacy of your own home.
After 18-24 weeks (20 minutes per treatment) you will find you have cleaner, more manageable hair with improved lustre and fuller body, decreased oiliness and larger hair shafts. You'll also find less hair fallen out in the shower and on pillows.
After 26-50 weeks (20 minutes per treatment), you will experience thicker and longer hair, a healthier scalp with reduced scalp itching and inflammation. Plus those with curly hair will see enhanced curl retention. After 52 weeks (20 minutes per treatment), the hairs on the top of the head and the vertex will start filling in. After 100 weeks (20 minutes per treatment), fuller and thicker hair will result with continued use.
> Who Should Use Low Level Laser Therapy?
LLLT is recommended for individuals with progressive / hereditary hair loss (scientifically called Androgenetic Alopecia) who have class II-V (Hamilton-Norwood hair loss scale). A Bosley Counselor can provide you with your individual hair loss classification, during your free and private Bosley consultation. Schedule your free consultation here.
> Can It Be Used by Patients Who've Had Hair Transplantation?
The helmet works very well with pre-procedure patients and with those who are 30 days post-procedure. Hair transplant can cause some degree of shock loss to the nearby hairs. The Theradome™ can help alleviate this and assist the growth of newly planted follicles by: accelerating the healing process; reducing redness and decreasing discomfort; and encouraging transplanted hairs to grow faster.
> Is It Ever Too Early to Use The Theradome™?
No, it is never too early to use the Theradome™ laser helmet, as it helps with the various stages of hair loss and will volumize your hair, even if you are just thinning and haven't yet experienced major hair loss.
> Are there any side effects from Low-Level Laser Therapy, such as
There are no known risks, discomforts or side effects associated with the laser treatments (the Theradome™ and the Bosley Laser Comb) offered by Bosley, and the FDA has validated this.
